United Way: a box of food, a safe haven in a crisis, a counselor who’ll listen, mentoring, help with repairs or utilities to keep families in their homes, armed forces emergency services

3. Old Way: summer camp
United Way: summer camp, quality after-school programs, more opportunities for more kids, scholarships for at-risk youth, making good choices, caring adults, community service opportunities, safety, creative activities, positive peer influence

4. Old Way: counseling
United Way: counseling, parenting education, caregiver training and support, access to affordable health care & prescriptions, a caring place for abused children to make their voices heard, advocacy for the developmentally disabled, blood services, childhood immunizations
