agency capacity, leveraging funds into the community, providing referrals, educating
service providers & community groups

United Way: a box of food, a safe haven in a crisis, a counselor who’ll
listen, mentoring, help with repairs or utilities to keep families in their
homes, armed forces emergency services
3. Old Way: summer camp
United Way: summer camp, quality after-school programs, more opportunities
for more kids, scholarships for at-risk youth, making good choices, caring
adults, community service opportunities, safety, creative activities, positive
peer influence
4. Old Way: counseling
United Way: counseling, parenting education, caregiver training and support,
access to affordable health care & prescriptions, a caring place for
abused children to make their voices heard, advocacy for the developmentally
disabled, blood services, childhood immunizations
We’re focused on critical issues like food and shelter, child
abuse, and care for the elderly.
